SNMP is a Simple Network Monitoring Protocol that allows system administrators to collect operational metrics such as network bandwidth consumption and the state of WAN fail-over. To configure SNMP use the menus to browse to Periphery → SNMP Settings. SNMPv2 is more widely used but has security issues therefor we recommend using SNMP v3 with SHA/AES encryption and integrity.

It's possible to use SNMP traps to forward event messages such as low disk space, fail-over events, service daemons restarting or clustering information. Navigate to Periphery → SNMP Settings and pick the required categories on the SNMP trap tab. Fill in an IP address at the bottom of the page and click Add, then mark the checkbox for every server you wish to sent SNMP traps to and finish by clicking Update.

Add a rule to the firewall to enable SNMP traffic, an example rule depicted below for access from 172.20.1.14.
