Configure Streaming Control

Stream Control allows to limit bandwidth usage by subscribers who are constantly streaming media (Meerkat, Periscope). It enables you to limit subscriber bandwidth within a single session (ie. without subscriber logout/login). When a subscriber exceeds a certain amount of traffic volume (up or down) he will temporarily be set on a lower bandwidth profile for short period.

Configuration

Streaming-control can be configured through the subscriber billing-plan. Edit your billing-plan (or create a new one) in Billing > Billing plan. Below Network settings you can adjust the Small reset mode to Stream Control

  • Small bandwidth reset
The amount of time a subscriber experiences low-bandwidth in seconds.
  • Small bandwidth up
The subscriber upload speed during low-bandwidth periods, if left undefined the high-bandwidth settings will remain in action (in KBps).
  • Small bandwidth down
The subscriber download speed during low-bandwidth periods, if left undefined the high-bandwidth settings will remain in action (in KBps).
  • Volume Up
The amount of upload traffic that needs to be consumed to trigger low-bandwidth mode, if left undefined, it will never trigger (in KB/MB or GB).
  • Volume Down
The amount of download traffic that needs to be consumed to trigger low-bandwidth mode, if left undefined, it will never trigger (in KB/MB or GB).

If both Volume Up and Volume Down are configured they form a logical OR, once one of the two threshholds is reached low-bandwidth mode will be enabled for a duration of Small bandwidth reset time.
